The 30 m antenna at the DLR site in Weilheim is to be made capable of transmitting in the X-band for future project support. The existing receive capability in the L-band is to be retained. This requires a new combined feed system. The system must be capable of receiving in the L-band plus transmitting and receiving in the X-band. The current feed parameters should not be degraded. The antenna is designed as a near-field Cassegrain system with a total of three reflectors. The following is a simplified representation of the system architecture. The feed system is to be attached inside the elevation cabin to the existing connection points of the elevation swivel coupling. Various solutions (combi-feed, rotating revolver design, switchable, ...) can be pursued. However, it must be possible to switch between L- and X-band operation quickly and easily (ideally automatically). All further details will be communicated following a successful tender.
The following must also be observed:
The requirements of the export control law applicable to the project must be taken into account, in particular the handling of goods under the Foreign Trade and Payments Ordinance (AWV), the EC Dual-Use Regulation (EC Regulation 428/2009), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
As the specifications and their annexes are confidential documents, the applicant must sign a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) - Annex A - Non-Disclosure Agreement when submitting the request to participate. This must be submitted with the request to participate by June 20, 2024,
10:00 a.m. (CET) DLR at the latest.
